John 1:12-14
"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
This verses, like Romans 1:16-17 (the Verses of the Day for yesterday) lay out the simple truths of the Gospel- Those who recieve Christ by faith 1. Are Justified by God, and 2. Are given the right to Become the Sons of God. These awsome promises are for all those who by faith receive Christ.
John, in the second half of verse 12, make the point that receiving Christ must be by faith-"even to them that believe on his name"
The Gospel is about faith. We cannot save ourselves and our good works will never be good enough to justify us before God. The good news is that because we cannot earn salvation, we can receive it by placing our Faith in Christ's eternal sacrifice, his death on the cross which paved the way for our freedom from sin.
Thos of us who love Jesus must always keep Christ's sacrfice in our hearts and minds. He paid our debt and we must never forget it.
Be blessed and Be a blessing!
